Introducing the Berghia snails

Introducing the Berghia snails

Proper introduction is crucial for your Berghia snails to settle in optimally and reliably fulfill their role. Please take your time with this – your animals will thank you.

🌑️ Preparation & Acclimation

Upon receiving the shipment, we recommend leaving the transport containers unopened in the aquarium for approximately 15-20 minutes to allow the temperature to equalize slowly.

Subsequently, a gradual adjustment to the aquarium water should take place (drip method or slow mixing over 30–60 minutes).

This way you avoid stress and ensure a safe start.

πŸŒ™ The right time

Berghia are nocturnal animals .

We strongly recommend using them only after switching off the lights .

In the dark they find shelter more quickly, are less stressed and can orient themselves directly.

πŸͺ¨ The right place

Place the Berghia as close as possible to areas infested with glass anemones or in protected areas between rocks or reef structures.

Please do not simply pour it freely into the pool or tip it into open water.

The snails often retreat after being introduced – this is completely normal .

⏳ Patience & Observation

Berghia work quietly, invisibly and extremely effectively .

You hardly see them, especially in the first few days.

The disappearance of glass anemones occurs gradually , often beginning at night.

Please refrain from frequently moving or searching for the animals – calmness is the key to success.

⚠️ Important information

  • No predators in the aquarium (e.g., wrasses, certain shrimp)

  • No copper-containing medications

  • Stable water parameters

  • Sufficient glass anemone population as a food source
