Measuring range freshwater: pH 5.8 - 8.4

Measuring range for seawater: pH 7.4 - 9.4

Resolution (accuracy): 0.2 - 0.3

The pH value, or "acidity level," indicates how acidic or basic (alkaline) water is. Pure water is neutral and has a pH value of 7. If acidic components predominate, the pH value decreases (pH < 7); if basic components predominate, the pH value increases (pH > 7). Many organisms are extremely sensitive to large fluctuations in pH value.

In freshwater aquariums, the optimal pH range for most fish and plants lies between 6.5 and 7.2. However, specific biotopes, such as Lake Malawi in Africa, also exhibit higher pH values, up to 9.0. In marine aquariums, the optimal pH value, as in the oceans, ranges between 8.0 and 8.5. Significant fluctuations, as well as excessive drops or rises in pH, should be strictly avoided, and the pH level in the aquarium should therefore be checked regularly.

Shake the dropper bottle before use!
Rinse the glass cuvette with tap water and then several times with aquarium water.
- Using the dosing syringe, fill the glass cuvette with exactly 5 ml of aquarium water.
- Add 1 drop of pH test reagent, close the glass cuvette with the stopper and shake the solution briefly.
- Place the glass cuvette on the white inner circles of the color fields and compare it with the surrounding color fields. To do this, look down into the open cuvette.
- Read the measured pH value under the corresponding color field.
- After the measurement process, thoroughly rinse the glass cuvette and syringe with tap water.

Use within 6 months of opening. Store in a cool, dark place.
